Digital Skins

As part of the Auckland University of Technology studio paper, Digital Skins, Andia Abernethy and Trak Gray created a garment in hopes to submit to The World of Wearable Arts. This garment embodies ideologies of post-humanism and trickster mythologies combined with inspirations from modern mediums such as art and films. They also experimented with virtual reality technology, placing web cameras inside the eyes, so the wearer can gain a new perspective of the newly created character. From their research, Abernethy and Gray created a devious and sultry character named Betty, who lures wealthy men in with her big lips in order to snatch their valuable treasures.
