Taking photos on top of Panekire Bluff, New Zealand

I have been a keen photographer ever since I got my first camera as a child. Since then, I have gradually learned new skills and improved my technique.

I like to show the subject of my photo as natural as it is, purposely avoiding major photo retouching.

The following photos are an excerpt of my work, mostly taken on vacation or special occasions.

Some of these photos have won competitions and have been sold to advertisement companies.

Nature

Most of my photos are of New Zealand's Nature because my wife Kathrin and I enjoy tramping through this mostly untouched landscape that never fails to impress us.
To get away from the daily hustle and bustle, ringing phones and ubiquitous technology, to rely on yourself and only the provisions and gear you can carry in your backpack, that provides an opportunity to switch off completely and recalibrate.

Pouakai Circuit / Mount Taranaki

Mount Taranaki is special in several ways: Its distinct shape, its isolated location dominating the East coast of the North Island, its perfectly round National Park making it stand out even more when seen from the air.
We have walked the Pouakai Circuit twice and have encountered this mountain in glorious sunshine, mist, rain, during sunrise and sunset, and witnessed its very temperamental weather.
The full photo set can be found on my Flickr Page.

Nelson Lakes National Park

Our trip through Nelson Lakes National Park took us along the Travers-Sabine Circuit and on a little detour to Blue Lake. Nine days long, this was our longest tramping trip ever. Blue Lake turned out to be one of these magical places that you constantly revisit in your mind. With water deep blue and so crystal clear that you can see up to 60m into the lake, and nobody else around, this place was impossibly hard to walk away from the next day.
